Electronic Technician

Lipomo, CO, Italia

Involve Space is an Italian aerospace startup developing stratospheric pseudo-satellite platforms designed to operate at the edge of space. Our technology uses high-altitude balloons reaching up to 30–40 km to carry scientific payloads, Earth observation instruments, and telecommunications systems.

Our mission is "Getting you closer to space" by enabling cost-effective, scalable, and persistent high-altitude operations for industries such as infrastructure monitoring, disaster response, telecommunications, environmental monitoring, and defense.

At the core of our technology are Stratostats®, reusable stratospheric platforms powered by advanced onboard systems and supported by our proprietary Neurostar® AI software, which enables autonomous navigation and station-keeping in the stratosphere.

We are looking for an Electronics Technician to join our team and support the assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of onboard electronics and avionics systems for high-altitude platforms. In this role, you will work hands-on with electronic hardware operating in extreme environments at the edge of space, contributing to missions in Earth observation, telecommunications testing, and aerospace research.

Key responsibilities

  • Assemble, wire, and integrate electronic systems and subsystems for stratospheric platforms
  • Support the development and testing of analog and digital circuits for avionics and onboard systems
  • Assist in the assembly and inspection of PCB boards for flight electronics
  • Set up and operate measurement equipment for hardware testing and validation
  • Support integration of communication modules (LoRa, LTE, WiFi, telemetry systems)
  • Interface and test sensors and peripherals on embedded hardware
  • Troubleshoot electronic devices and systems at component and subsystem level
  • Support environmental testing and flight validation activities
  • Assist with system integration and flight readiness checks
  • Collaborate with engineering teams across avionics, RF, AI, and payload disciplines
  • Support mission operations and hardware troubleshooting during campaigns

Requirements

Must have

  • Technical diploma (or equivalent) in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field — or demonstrated hands-on experience in lieu of formal qualifications
  • Good understanding of analog and digital electronics fundamentals
  • Practical experience with measurement equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, function generator)
  • Experience with PCB assembly, soldering, and basic inspection
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and microcontrollers
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART)
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware systems at component and subsystem level
  • Hands-on approach with strong attention to detail
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace or high-altitude systems
  • Knowledge of RF fundamentals and antenna integration
  • Basic firmware development skills (C/C++ or Python)
  • Experience with Linux-based embedded systems
  • Knowledge of power systems for battery-powered platforms
  • Experience with avionics integration
  • Knowledge of environmental testing (thermal, vacuum, vibration)
  • Experience with telemetry systems
