Electronic Engineer

Lipomo, CO, Italia

Involve Space is an Italian aerospace startup developing stratospheric pseudo-satellite platforms designed to operate at the edge of space. Our technology uses high-altitude balloons reaching up to 30–40 km to carry scientific payloads, Earth observation instruments, and telecommunications systems.

Our mission is "Getting you closer to space" by enabling cost-effective, scalable, and persistent high-altitude operations for industries such as infrastructure monitoring, disaster response, telecommunications, environmental monitoring, and defense.

At the core of our technology are Stratostats®, reusable stratospheric platforms powered by advanced onboard systems and supported by our proprietary Neurostar® AI software, which enables autonomous navigation and station-keeping in the stratosphere.

We are looking for an Electronic Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of onboard electronics, avionics, and payload systems for high-altitude platforms. In this role, you will work on the design, integration, and validation of electronic systems operating in extreme environments at the edge of space, supporting missions in Earth observation, telecommunications testing, and aerospace research.

Key responsibilities

  • Design and develop electronic systems for stratospheric platforms and payloads
  • Develop analog and digital circuits for avionics and onboard subsystems
  • Design power distribution and power management systems
  • Develop sensor interfaces and data acquisition systems
  • Design and test PCB boards for flight electronics
  • Integrate communication modules (LoRa, LTE, WiFi, telemetry systems)
  • Develop embedded hardware for onboard computing and control systems
  • Troubleshoot electronic devices and systems
  • Integrate electronic subsystems with avionics, payloads, and communication systems
  • Conduct lab testing, environmental testing, and flight validation
  • Support system integration and flight readiness activities
  • Collaborate with aerospace, RF, AI, and payload engineering teams
  • Support mission operations and troubleshooting during campaigns

Requirements

Must have

  • MSc or PhD in Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of analog and digital electronics
  • Experience in PCB design and schematic development
  • Experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers
  • Experience with power electronics and power management systems
  • Experience with measurement equipment (oscilloscope, function generator, multimeter)
  • Experience interfacing sensors and peripherals (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN)
  • Understanding of communication modules (LoRa, ZigBee, WiFi, Bluetooth, LTE)
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware systems
  • Experience with lab testing and validation
  • Fluent in English

Nice to have

  • Experience with aerospace or high-altitude systems
  • Knowledge of RF fundamentals and antenna integration
  • Experience with embedded firmware development (C/C++)
  • Experience with Linux-based embedded systems
  • Knowledge of power systems for battery-powered platforms
  • Experience with avionics integration
  • Knowledge of environmental testing (thermal, vacuum, vibration)
  • Experience with telemetry systems
